  1. Fabrication Heavy, Senior, Gary Preston, Hotter Engineering
  2. Apprentice of the Year, Gary Preston, Hotter Engineering
  3. McKechnies Cup

Gary Preston has a dream job – travelling the world, installing Eltham-built cowsheds. This year alone he's been to China five times, and has also visited Chile, Italy and South Africa.

Gary is so busy that he is away from New Zealand seven to eight months of the year. But despite the stresses of long-distance travel, he's loving it.

"I couldn't ask for a better job anywhere," said Gary, who works for Hotter Engineering Ltd. The firm specialises in building and installing milking systems for the dairy industry all over the world.

And Hotters couldn't ask for a better employee, because on Wednesday night he was named Taranaki's top apprentice at the annual Engineering Taranaki engineering and electrical trades apprenticeship awards.

Hotter Engineering Ltd managing director Russell Hotter said he was very pleased for his young employee. "He's been a very good apprentice, and now he's a high achiever as our international cowshed system fabricator and installer. We're proud of him." Read the full article at Taranaki Daily News
